Finding Permanence
Everyone fades away. The home you saved up for? Pretty soon its facilities, its design will all fade to black and you are left wanting more. Bought a new full frame camera? Goes out to shoot and shoot, only to stop using it as often just a few weeks after purchase. Same thing happens if you buy a lens for it. Signed a package somewhere? Oh the initial joy! Turns to burden that you are bound to. So why does none of it lasts? What can we actually, or should, look for in search for that everlasting contentment and peace?
Bring religion into the picture. When you are focused on the eternal, the present is no longer important. But, are you going to put your faith into something you cannot see? Are you going to invest your time into someone you have never met? (Spoiler Alert: I do, but let’s move on!)
You don’t look for anything at all. The richest man in the world, is the man who needs nothing. Therefore he already has everything. Whatever you look for in life, it will not be enough. You want that promotion? Someone else probably got it first, and the next one too. Want to leave a legacy for your kids? Sure, you might be rich, you might have made a name for yourself, but can you guarantee the lives of your kids?
You are aware nothing is permanent. You live for the moment. You enjoy the present. You plan for the future, but worry not whatever is not here yet. Be thankful always. It is better to be bullied than to be a bully. Face a colleague that is much better, much more efficient than you? Help him achieve greater heights, for that is where he belongs. You enjoy, even relish, the changes in life, at work, for they are there to strengthen you, to test you, before a greater challenge comes about.
Edit: This is the first post that i actually typed, before getting the photographs.
This is my church that I serve.
