Apple
We love to purchase things! And apple has mastered the art of satisfying our thirst for the latest, the greatest, the slimmest, the shiniest. The current phone will be the best phone for everyone, and then suddenly it is no longer the best phone. What changed? Certainly not the phone (maybe dirtier is all). But it is the narrative done up by Apple themselves, that the newer phone is far superior in every way to the older one. We never knew we need 3 cameras on a phone, until they launch one. When android came up with this, Apple users commented that we can do a lot with just one camera. But now, everyone needs a tele lens, an ultra wide lens and a main lens.
Of course there are reasons for upgrading. We want a device with warranty. We want to pass down phones for our children. We do not want our devices to depreciate. A lot of items today, are like magazines. We subscribe to them. We use them, and then we hope to get the next issue. The brands that do not do this, are luxury super high end brands. They tell you “ get one, and use it and then pass on to your next generation”. But they cost so much, u might as well buy more of the same thing and have leftovers to hand them down for the next generation. (watches. =) )
Iphone 12 is around the corner. How do you feel about your current phone? Is it good enough? Is your phone a status symbol for you? If so, what status are you going for?
